Welcome to H & B Thanet. We're a small, passionate handmade gifts and homeware business based right here in Ramsgate, on the beautiful Isle of Thanet in Kent. Everything you see in our shop is made by hand, in our own workshop — crafted with care, attention to detail, and a genuine love for the craft.

Our Workshop & Who We Are

We're not a factory. We're a small team of makers, working out of our Ramsgate workshop, creating each piece individually and to order. That means when you buy from us, you're not getting something pulled off a shelf — you're getting something made especially for you. We take real pride in that.

The Materials We Use

We believe the quality of a piece starts with the quality of its materials. That's why we source everything as close to home as possible:

• UK-sourced wood — We work with beautiful steamed beech, cherry, and oak,  sourced from Wales and Kent. These are rich, characterful timbers that look stunning and last a lifetime.
• UK-sourced slate — Slate has a timeless, natural beauty, and ours is sourced right here in the UK.
• Cornish mineral oils — We finish and treat our wooden pieces with premium Cornish mineral oils, giving them a gorgeous lustre and making them water-resistant and food-safe where needed.

We're proud to keep our supply chain close to home — supporting British suppliers and reducing our environmental footprint at the same time.

Made to Order & Fully Personalised

Most of what we make, is made to order, which means it's fresh, it's personal, and it's made just for you. We offer full personalisation — any font, any text, any message — so whether it's a wedding gift, a birthday present, or something special for your home, we can make it truly unique.

We also offer discounts for businesses and of course our free bespoke service on business items, that can be used to promote you business or in branding / PR.

Not sure how it'll look? No problem. We offer free bespoke computer mock-ups before we make anything, so you can see exactly what your finished piece will look like before we pick up a tool. We want you to love it — and we won't start making until you do.

Our Commitment to Quality

We don't cut corners. Every piece is finished to a high standard, and we put real thought into the details that matter. Our coasters, for example, come with bumper feet fitted as standard — protecting your furniture and giving that premium feel. Our wood is treated for water resistance, so your pieces are built to be used and enjoyed, not just admired.

We make things the way we'd want them made for ourselves — properly.

We're local, and we love it. If you're nearby, you're welcome to collect your order in person from Ramsgate — it's always lovely to meet the people we make things for. Of course we offer postage within the UK. This is free on orders over £20.
